Description
This site represent distinctive lens-shaped sandy facies (arenite) nestled among predominantly argillite rocks within the Kroh Formation. These rocks underwent a phase of low-grade metamorphism, transforming into quartzite and slate due to intrusive granitic activity.
Originating from the Ordovician-Silurian era, approximately 443–419 million years ago, these formations were laid down in a shallow oceanic environment. This site represents the basal segment of the Kroh Formation.
Significant
It holds high educational and scientific value at the national level as it represents the arenite facies within the Ordovician-Silurian deposits of the Kroh Formation
Other Heritage
Bukit Suring also exposes gravel deposits of the ancient Sungai Perak, which were used as a Paleolithic stone tool workshop.
