Description
The rock originally was sandstone from the Kubang Pasu Formation that underwent metamorphism, transforming into quartzite due to contact with granite intrusion (contact metamorphic rock).
This rock dates back to the Permian period, and the metamorphic contact occurred approximately 220 million years ago. The quartzite hills are exposed with steep cliffs at an angle of about 135 degrees with complex folding.
The formation of quartzite rocks in Mount Gadang (779m), situated between the Titiwangsa Range and the Bintang Range, is of national significance.
Significant
This Kubang Pasu sandstone site that has undergone metamorphism due to granite intrusion is located near the source of a hot spring (the Bok Bak fault zone) at Kampung Sira Panas.
Other Heritage
As a source of quartzite river gravel in the Lenggong Valley, used as the primary raw material for the manufacture of prehistoric stone tools.
